Shopping List for Your Newborn Baby

Shopping for your newborn baby is an exciting and fun time. But sometimes we hog wild, and bought too much stuffs. One thing that you should remember that newborn baby grows very fast. If you buy too much for newborn baby, you will notice that your baby does not have a chance to wear gorgeous clothes that you bought for him/her. Some of the times, your friends and relatives also give clothes or newborn baby’s needs as a gift. Generally, newborn baby spends their time wearing comfortable cotton clothes.

Here are some shopping lists, as guidance for new mommy when they shopping for their newborn baby’s needs or at least a list of baby’s needs for the first 0 – 3 months old.  

Shopping List for Baby’s Clothes:

• 12 pieces cotton shirt (at least 2 pieces a day, and you still have extra when the dirty shirt is  washed)
• 12-24 pieces of cotton pants (your baby pees a lot of times in a day)
• 1 pack of disposable baby diapers
• 6 pieces trousers (usually I wore this trousers at night for my baby)
• 12 pieces undershirts (to keep your baby warm)
• 6 pieces jumpsuits
• 1 or 2 hats
• 1 jackets (the thickness depends on the season)
• 6 pairs of socks or soft shoes
• 6 pairs of gloves
• 3 feeding napkin
• 6 pieces wrapping clothes.
• 2 waterproof mats

Shopping Lists for Baby’s Toiletries:

• Baby liquid soap (it is better hair and body wash tear free soap with pump, one of your hands hold the baby, and the other one is pumping the soap and smoothly wash your baby)
• Baby oil
• Sorbolene cream
• baby rash cream
• 4 Soft washcloths
• 3 baby towels (it is better use only for your baby)
• Minyak telon (Indonesian people usually also prepare telon oil, to keep the baby warm and keep them from mosquito bites)
• Baby wipes, wet and dry wipes
• 1 pack of cotton buds
• 1 pack of cotton

Notes for baby’s toiletries, it is better for you to buy small pack of baby’s toiletries, because sometimes baby skin sensitive to certain product.

Shopping Lists for Baby First Aid Kit

• Paracetamol drop (usually use after vacsine, because usually baby gets fever after vacsine)
• Alchohol 70%
• Gauze cloth/bandage
• Baby nail cutter or scissor.
• Thermometer

Shopping List for Travelling Needs

• 1 Baby travel bag
• 2 Baby sling / carrying cloth (for example: batik cloth (in Indonesia) or Bobita Wrap)
• 2 or 3 Milk bottles
• Hot water jar

Shopping Lists for Other Needs (that might be important):

• 2 Buckets (to put the dirty laundry, 1 for peed pants and clothes, the other 1 for pupped pants & clothes)
• 2 cups for water to clean and wash when your baby pup or pee.
• 1 plastic bath bucket
• 1 Milk container
• 1 set baby feeding utensils (bowl, spoon, glass, plate)
